In single miscella refining polar solvent like alcohol is used in which
soap stock gets dissolved and separated from neutral oil In double solvent method, both polar and non-polar solvents are used
in which neutral oil and soap stock forms two distinct layers by which
more neutral oil yield and good quality fatty acid is obtained. On completion
of neutralization and separation respective solvents are recovered by
distillation and condensation, which is again recycled for the usage in
the process. Double solvent miscella refining is more efficient
than the single solvent process because of better miscibility of two different
immiscible liquids in its corresponding solvents having similar polarity.

Miscella refining is the process
by which neutralization of oil is carried out either in single solvent or
double solvent media so that separation of soap stock is easier as well
higher neutral oil recovery compare to conventional process.
